The Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club needs your support!

As with many clubs and organizations, it always seems that about 10% of it's membership does 110% of the work.

Well, it appears that some have decided it's time for others to step up.

Unless we have some volunteers soon, there may be no Hamfest for 2009. We also need someone to teach the Technician General and Extra classes to new and upgrading hams. In addition Field Day and many other events may suffer for the lack of help.

This lack of participation not only hurts the club as a whole but our primary focus, which is to introduce ham radio to the general public and encourage participation and growth in this great hobby.

All it takes is willingness to help out. Even if you're not sure what's involved, if you would like to help please contact Ron Ramsey AB4A, Phil Roark K4WFO, or any of the other Board or Committee Members for more information. Phil has a detailed planner for Hamfest info, and Ron already has the Technician and General classes planned out in a Powerpoint presentation format.

I know this post is "old" (from last year), but it's worth a try.
I'm new to the Amateur Radio community, I just received my license about a week and a half ago. I've talked to KG4MAV as well as AB4A (Russ and Ron, respectively), as well as a few others on the W4CA repeater. Obviously, I've registered on the website and have browsed around a bit. I'm excited to see that ya'll are putting on a Hamfest here in Roanoke! Anyhow, to the point at hand, I see that help can be scarce, and I want to know if there's anything I can do to help out. I do work and attend college, but with any free time I have I'd be glad to help the general effort. I'm already planning on taking the Saturday of the Hamfest off, so that I can attend. Let me know what I can do, if anything, to help out!

In the mean time, 73's, see you on the air.

P.S., I can be contacted either on here, or by email: david©bruington.com

-People ask if that's a CB i have. I laugh and say no... it's Amateur radio. CB's are for neanderthals.
